Final Logo

Hello everyone!

My logo is for my hypothetical fashion brand. This relates to my blog topic as my blog is all about fashion. I was inspired for this project by looking up fashion brand labels and seeing what other people were doing. I also looked up what fashion influencers used as their label for their brand and took information from that as well.

To actually create my logo, I first made a sketch of a rough idea of what I wanted my logo to look like. After I was satisfied, I began to work on my actual logo in illustrator. I found an image of a dress that matched my idea and placed it inside illustrator. I then used the pen to cut around the image of the dress until I had a full outline. I filled in the color to pink. Next, I added the text that reads “Fashion by Talley”. I changed the color, font, and sized and used the arrange tool to bring the text to the front of the dress. I then used the ellipse tool, holding down “shift” to create a perfect circle, and aligned the circle perfectly around the dress. I picked a pink blend color to fill in this circle and used the arrange tool again to bring the circle behind the dress and text. I then went to window-pathfinder-and unite to combine all of the aspects of my logo and lock them into place.

For my final draft, I made some changes in order to make my logo more appealing. The first thing I did was find a new dress outline and more accurately outline it with the pen tool. I changed the opacity of the logo to 50% to make the logo blend better and be a little more seamless. I then added a thick black border around the exterior of the logo to make it stand out. I also made the dress a lighter color as well as made the background behind the dress a custom solid pink. I also made the text black with a different font. I used the warp tool to make the text wave slightly across the logo. I also added stars to the dress by using the star tool and removed the stroke so that they would blend with the dress. I made some of them different sizes to add dimension.

I struggled in illustrator with erasing errors and mistakes. I found it challenging to erase or delete certain aspects without messing up other layers of my logo. I also had a hard time tracing the dress precisely with the pen tool, it definitely took a few tries. Overall I learned a lot about illustrator as it is an application I had never used before. There were a lot of growing pains but I think a lot of practice made me become more knowledgeable and successful with this platform.
